Agniveer.. my view !
Does it make sense to provide life-long pension to a 25 year old kid?
Why would he work hard, innovate and take risk when he is guaranteed steady income at such a young age? Manrega is the best example: it has killed the rural workforce completely! In finance jargon, this phenomena is termed as 'moral-hazard'!
More pertinent question is - why I (as a taxpayer) should commit to a life-long liability for a person whose moustache has not even grown fully?
Ultimately, it's you and me who would be paying for them and it's a huge amount! Imagine you have 50,000 new kids every year to feed for life!
One common argument people are floating on social media - why politicians should get pension whey they are also for 5 years?
Well, politicians are not only for 5 years, they are elected for 5 years which is again a constitutional mandate. If you don't want them for 5 years, elect them for 62 years.. hope this makes sense!
Abusing politicians is our national hobby, and it's perfectly ok! But, we must draw a line and accept the fact that they are as important as anybody else. They are not into a part-time and for fun, they have a huge constitutional responsibility and mostly they have been successful. If you don't believe, just look at our neighbors!
For people do not understand the concept of pension - why it is provided at all?
The objective is to provided minimum support to a person who has already worked throughout his active life and after a certain age he is no longer deemed fit, physically and mentally, for service. It's always been a privilege, not a right! I just do not understand, how a 25 years old person becomes becomes physically and mentally unfit for a job!
